Job Summary

To care for and maintain garden areas, green spaces, housing estates and highway verges within the county. Work will vary and be affected by seasonal variations; works will include planting, bedding, shrubs, grass cutting, strimming, pruning of shrubs, hedge cutting, leaf cleaning and litter collection. The use of a range of hand tools will be expected when performing some of the above activities. From time-to-time participation in hard landscaping and the operation of ride-on mowers will be called for.

Profile

· Practical experience of garden maintenance, including planting, pruning and hedge cutting.

· Able to work with minimum supervision but able to take instruction and complete work accordingly.

· Knowledge/experience of planting, pruning and completion of grass cutting, strimming operation.

· Able to undertaken routine maintenance of small plant and machinery.

· Knowledge of horticulture/plants or the landscape and the environment.

· Be organized concerning tools, machinery and be able to plan work in a productive manner.

· Willing, accept work outdoors and during adverse weather conditions.

Standard of Dress / PPE

· Protective Boots, Reflective/wet weather clothing to BS471 Class III standard.

Education & Training

· Manual Handling Training essential.

Specific Experience

• Use of strimmers/self propelled mowers/hedge trimmer
• Use of ride-on mowers.

Specific Checks

· Certificates relevant to plant/tools experience

· Manual Handling Training Certificate

· Full Clean Driving Licence preferable.
